VW TDI ALH Skid Plate
One of the most frustrating repairs for any Volkswagen owner is a broken oil pan from rocks/road debris etc. What typically happens is over the years, the plastic cover that these cars come with gets lost, or one of the dealer techs forget to replace the mounting screws so it gets torn off on parking blocks etc. Driving a TDI Volkswagen with an exposed oil pan is a ticking time bomb. We routinely have cars towed into the shop with a busted oil pan and/or damaged engine internals from oil starvation. Now, we've installed our share of aftermarket skid plates for years and while there are full coverage skid plates available, NONE are user friendly to install or work around when servicing the vehicle. Once installed, in order to service ANYTHING (or if you drop a bolt/tools etc. while working on the vehicle), you'll have to remove the skid plate entirely (which is huge pain). Why put a $300 skid plate system on your vehicle when all you're really worried about protecting is the engine's oil pan? We designed our TDI skid plates with several key features:
Installs in under 10 minutes using factory threaded engine block holes
Less than 1/2 of the cost of a typical skid plate system
Built from Aircraft Grade aluminum
Easy to work around including unhindered access to the oil drain plug etc.
Comes with bolts and a link to installation instructions**
Fits: 1999-2004 Jetta/Golf/NEW BEETLE with the ALH TDI engine.
Please Note: New Beetles have a small bracket that you will need to work around and is not pictured on the installation video/instructions.
LETTERING FOR ILLUSTRATIVE PURPOSES ONLY. All skid plates are built using structual aircraft grade aluminum and are not polished so some surface scratches are to be expected.

On a recent trip home from Redmond, OR to Springerville, AR we found ourselves driving through the night in a desperate effort to get home. In doing so, we encountered something in the road; a large something. We hit it so hard it woke my husband up. Since we were in the middle of nowhere and there were no associated noises, we pressed on to the nearest gas station. Once we arrived, my husband got back in the car and said "that skid plate just saved our butts". We made it home and at a recent oil change our tech noted that we must've "smacked something big in the road" but no damage to anything other than a slightly dented skid plate. So, in all this, I would say the product works as intended, the price was right, and the quality has withstood the test of time. I cannot recommend these skid plates highly enough.

This thing was seriously easy to install. My wife actually helped install this in my driveway and I think from start to finish it took us 15 minutes. So far, Im very impressed!

Just picked up a super clean 2002 jetta wagon tdi and imediately ordered one of these awesome skid plates. For the quality-minded tdi owner, look no further than the Diesel Toys skid plates.

After replacing the oil pan on my Jetta TDI when it decided to eat a rock kicked up by a semi truck on my way back from a family gathering, I began searching for a way to protect the replacement pan. In the TDI scene, the skid plate market is pretty limited. After reading dozens of scathing reviews for full body skid plates, I stumbled on this one from dt. Its sturdy, made well, and does exactly what it says. If you're on the fence on this one, just check out the install videos for both. It takes a few hours to install the panzer as you have all these little brackets to fiddle with v.s. a few minutes to install the dt. Of the folks I've queried on tdiclub that own the panzer , most claim that they plagued with "mystery rattles" which really turned me off to them. Im sensitive to noises/rattles etc. I've had the dt installed for 3 months now without a single problem.

We own/operate a TDI repair business here in NH and were turned onto these skid plates from tdiclub.com. Skeptical, we ordered one for a customer that had demolished their oil pan by not running a skid plate. My first impression was that these are bad a** skid plates. The small footprint, ease of use, build quality, and the fact that you can install these in a couple minutes brings us back time and again. Thanks for creating an excellent product guys.

As the other reviews have stated, solid design, easy to install, a no-brainer. Definitely recommend picking one of these up.

Does what it claims to do brilliantly. Cheapest alternative is a dieselgeek panzer plate at well over twice the cost of these. Fixing to buy another one for my wife's car.

Took longer to jack my car up on stands than to install. Killer product guys!
